This school year, we began to implement PBIS-Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports across the campus and district. As part of back to school, staff has proclaimed the first day and each Monday of the first month of school to “Sprinkle Happiness”. Staff welcome students and other teachers in the morning, hold signs with positive messages and cheer when the bus arrives. I admit, I thought it was a little corny, but then I got into the swing and created my own messages on the sidewalk.
Outside my classroom in front of the bus gate, where I was stopped by security and he reported that graffiti was occurring. |
Right in front of my door, hoping that the love I feel for teaching, my subject and my students will be obvious to all who enter.
I am not an artist by any means. So my choices
were very limited. I can draw hearts, stars,
happy faces and write words. That is the extent. And since I was using a foam roller, there was a limit on the words I was able to write, although I will say that my circles looked fairly round. I drew a crescent moon at the door of a male coworker and he wanted to know why I drew a banana at his door.
